Slate and tile repairs in Torbay
Torbay's older houses are mostly slate, and after a century of wind off the bay the nails give up before the slates do. When a gale lifts a few, rain gets straight onto the felt and battens. We refix slipped slates with hooks or straps, match replacements with reclaimed slate where needed, and replace cracked tiles, loose ridges and verges on tiled roofs. See slate and tile repairs.
Leadwork and chimney repairs in Torbay
Tall chimney stacks on Victorian houses take the full force of the weather. Cracked flaunching, failed pointing and worn or short lead flashings all let water in, and wind-driven rain finds every gap. We renew lead flashings and valleys, replace cement fillets with proper lead, and repoint and repair stacks. See lead work and chimney repairs.
After a storm
When a big storm comes in off the Channel, everyone needs a roofer at once. Ring us with what you can see, send photos by WhatsApp if you can, and we'll tell you honestly when we can come. If there's a risk of more water getting in, we'll make it safe first.

Roof repairs in Torbay: common questions
Can you come out to Torquay for a leak?
Yes. We're about 15 miles away in Chudleigh. Call and we'll tell you honestly when we can get there, and make it safe first if needed.
Why do slates keep blowing off my roof?
On older roofs it's usually the nails rusting through, so the slates are only held by the ones above. A few can be refixed; if it's happening across the roof, a re-roof is often better value.
Does salt air damage roofs?
It can. Salt speeds up corrosion of nails, clips and some metal fixings. On coastal roofs we use fixings suited to the exposure.
Will my insurance cover storm damage?
Most buildings policies cover sudden storm damage but not general wear. We can give you a written report and quote for your insurer.
How much does a roof repair cost in Torbay?
It depends on the repair and the access, and scaffolding on steep streets can be a big part of the cost. You get a free, no-obligation quote before we start.
