Lead work and chimney repairs in Exeter
Lead flashings, valleys, dormers and chimney repairs, done properly so they stay watertight.
Where roofs usually leak
Most roof leaks don't start in the middle of a slope. They start where the roof meets something else: a chimney, a wall, a dormer or another roof. Lead is what keeps the water out at those joins, so when lead work is wrong, it's usually the first place you'll see a damp patch.
We fit new lead and replace old, tired lead on homes and commercial buildings across Exeter, Chudleigh, Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton. Every project carries our minimum 5-year guarantee.
Chimney maintenance and repairs
Chimneys take a lot of weather. Cracked flaunching, loose pots, failed pointing and worn flashings all let water in. We repair and maintain chimney stacks as part of our roofing work, and we'll tell you honestly what needs doing now and what can wait.

Why lead work goes wrong
Lead lasts a long time when it's fitted properly. The problems we're called out to usually come down to a few things:
- Joints and laps too short. Water gets blown back under a lap that doesn't overlap far enough.
- Pieces too long. Lead expands and contracts with the weather. Pieces that are too big, or fixed too tightly, crack over time.
- Old mortar instead of lead. Cement fillets at walls and chimneys crack away and let water straight in.
- Failed pointing. Where flashings are tucked into brickwork, the pointing holding them in place can crumble.
If you've got a damp patch near a chimney or wall, that's usually where we look first.

“Very honest, pro-active and accommodating. Chris and his team communicated throughout the project and got on with the job. Work was carried out professionally, on time and for the quoted price. Would hire again.”
“Very quick, very clean and just got on with the job. Chris actually started and finished earlier than expected and then apologised for it! He kept me informed all the way through and took before and after pictures. I'd definitely keep his number and use him again for my next roof! Thanks Chris 10/10.”
