Who we are

Ayre Roofing Limited, trading as Ayre Roofing Contractors, is a roofing company based in Exeter and Chudleigh, Devon. We're responsible for the personal information you give us, which makes us the "data controller" under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

We're a small, local firm. We only collect what we need to quote for and carry out roofing work, and we never sell your details or use them for marketing lists.

What we collect

When you get in touch

Whether you use the form on this website, phone, email, WhatsApp, Facebook or MyBuilder, we'll have whatever you choose to give us. That usually means your name, phone number, email address, the address of the property, what you need doing, and any photos you send of the roof.

When we quote for or carry out work

The property address, access arrangements, notes and photos of the roof before, during and after the work, your quote, invoices and payment records. If it's an insurance job, we'll also hold the claim reference and insurer or loss adjuster details you give us.

Reviews

If you leave us a review, we may show it on this website with your first name and town, as we do on our testimonials page. Ask us at any time and we'll take it down.

This website

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Like all websites, our web server keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security. To stop spam, the enquiry form briefly keeps a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for up to an hour, to limit how many messages can be sent from one connection.

How we use it, and why we're allowed to

  • To reply to your enquiry, visit and quote. You've asked us to, so this is a step towards entering a contract with you.
  • To carry out the work, invoice you and honour our guarantee. This is needed to perform our contract with you, including our minimum 5-year guarantee on projects (1 year on remedial work).
  • To keep business and tax records. We have a legal obligation to keep accounting records.
  • To meet safety and regulatory duties, for example records and notifications for asbestos removal. This is a legal obligation.
  • To keep the website and form secure and free of spam. This is in our legitimate interests.
  • To show your review. We only do this with your agreement, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Who we share it with

We only share what's needed, with:

  • the companies that run our email (Google), phone and messaging services, and our website hosting provider, which hosts this website on a server in the UK
  • suppliers, scaffolders and licensed waste carriers we use on your job, who only receive the property address and the details they need to do their part
  • your insurer or loss adjuster, on insurance work you've asked us to carry out
  • our accountant, for preparing our accounts and tax returns
  • regulators such as HMRC or the Health and Safety Executive, where the law requires it.

If you message us through WhatsApp or Facebook, those services are run by Meta under their own privacy policies. Some of our providers, such as Google and Meta, may process data outside the UK. When they do, they use the legal safeguards UK law requires.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't go ahead: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Customer and job records: six years from the end of the financial year the work was completed in (the period HMRC requires), and in any case for as long as our guarantee on the work runs.
  • Asbestos removal records: as long as the law requires.
  • Website server logs: as set by our hosting provider, usually a few weeks.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct anything that's wrong
  • ask us to delete your information, unless we have to keep it, for example for tax records
  • ask us to restrict or stop using your information, or object to how we use it
  • withdraw your consent, for example for a review, at any time
  • ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere.

To use any of these rights, email ayreroofing@gmail.com or call 07803 365 251. There's no charge, and we'll reply within one month.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please talk to us first and we'll put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
